Primer Semestre

Nationalism is one of the most important issues in many countries of Southern Europe. This course is aimed at the study of Nationalism by focusing on the theories that explain it. There are two main methodological currents in the study of Nationalism: primordialism and modernism. We will study the works and the main theorists of both in order to analyze historical and current nationalist processes in Southern Europe. By connecting the theories with the political reality of Nationalism the students will be able to create a tool box for political analysis and to check the explanatory success of the theories studied.
